The Nordic digital transformation company Solita has acquired the shares of Commentor A/S, a fast-growing Danish IT consultancy. Expanding its presence in Denmark, Solita now employs almost 200 technology and data professionals in Denmark and over 1,500 in six countries. Together the two fast-growing companies aim at building the leading North European technology powerhouse, powered by cutting-edge technologies and a humane company culture.

Commentor is one of Denmark’s biggest, privately owned IT companies. The company currently employs more than 145 people in Denmark. For the last 5 years, Commentor has had a yearly growth of more than 25% and has been appointed the fastest-growing IT consultancy in Denmark in both 2020 and 2021 by ComputerWorld. Commentor’s net sales amounted to 15,5 MEUR (DKK 115 mio) in 2021. The company was founded and previously owned by Michael Hove.

Complementing Solita’s vast technology, data and design offering, Commentor develops software and IT solutions for large companies and organisations, such as the Danish tax agency and Synoptik, one of the market-leading opticians in Denmark.

“I am very honored by the interest that has been shown for Commentor. I have until now denied the thought of selling, but our serious growth ambitions combined with my conversations with advisors have convinced me the timing was right”, said Commentor’s CEO Michael Hove and continues:

“Our position as a market challenger has piqued international interest. Solita has historically been extremely selective in its M&A processes and we have therefore gone through a very thorough process, where both parties have taken the time to get to know each other – to ensure a good fit with our cultures, visions, and customers. I have no doubts that Solita is a great partner for Commentor.”

Expanding in Denmark

With Commentor, Solita now has a team of almost 200 technology, business and data transformation professionals in Denmark. Earlier in 2021, Solita acquired Intellishore, a Danish data analytics and strategy consultancy.

“We are very happy to join forces with Commentor, with whom we share a matching ambition for combining our forward-looking technological capabilities with creating a humane working culture. Together we will be able to offer our international and Danish customers a very competitive service offering in the Nordics”, said Ossi Lindroos, CEO of Solita.

Solita currently employs more than 1,500 people in Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Belgium, and Germany. The company reached over 150 MEUR in revenue in 2021. Solita’s customers include, for example, Kone, Vestas, XL-BYG, Skandia and the retail giants S Group and Colryut. In Finland, Solita was responsible for developing the national Covid-19 contact tracing app as well as the Covid-19 passport reader application.
