In addition to statistics and data, the report features also initiatives and case stories on how Solita is actively building a more sustainable organisation — and helping customers do the same.

Sustainability is deeply integrated into the strategy and mission of Solita: creating impact that lasts. In addition to the company’s own activities, being a service company without physical products, much of the company’s impact comes through the company’s handprint – the positive change Solita helps create for its customers across both business and society, through the solutions it designs, builds, and delivers, together with its vast partner network.

“I hope our new sustainability report serves as a catalyst for action and meaningful conversations — both among our 2,200 Solitans and with our partners across Europe. The path to sustainability isn’t always smooth. It challenges us to rethink, to innovate, and to venture off the beaten path. Through digital innovation, we’ve helped reshape industries — and we are committed to using that same expertise to build a more sustainable tomorrow,” said Ossi Lindroos, CEO of Solita.

Solita has supported the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact across human rights, labour, and the environment since 2019. In 2024, the company launched several new initiatives to strengthen its sustainability work and prepare for expanded reporting requirements under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

Key sustainability initiatives and achievements in 2024

  • Reduced greenhouse gas emissionsSolita reduced its market-based greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 16% and location-based emissions by 13% compared to 2023. GHG emission intensity was reduced by 20% and the carbon footprint per employee decreased by 21%.

  • Science-based targets validatedThe Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated Solita’s near-term science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets, confirming they align with global climate goals.
  • Double materiality assessment completedTo better understand its sustainability impacts and risks, Solita conducted a double materiality assessment (DMA) with external partner Upright Oy. The analysis covered Solita’s operations and its broader value chain, identifying both positive and negative impacts.
  • Environmental management system recertified and expandedSolita worked on extending the scope of the ISO 14001:2015 certified environmental management system, which was successfully recertified at the beginning of 2025.
  • Updated anti-bribery and corruption policy and trainingSolita updated its anti-bribery and corruption policy to increase awareness and prevent bribery. Solita also launched an anti-bribery and corruption training for all employees. The training is mandatory for customer-facing as well as management and leadership roles.
  • New DEI training and practicesThe company rolled out several new initiatives, including a “Leading through Bias” training for all leaders, and a “Mitigating Bias in Recruitment” eLearning course to diminish unconscious bias in recruitment and promote fair and inclusive hiring.
  • Extensive inclusion survey conductedIn partnership with an external provider, Solita conducted an in-depth inclusion survey in September 2024 to better understand the experiences of employees across different diversity demographics. The insights will guide 2025 DEI targets. Solita uses also other survey and feedback tools to track progress and employee insights on employee satisfaction, engagement, and inclusivity.
  • Job architecture framework introducedSolita implemented a new job architecture framework to promote role and salary transparency. The model helps ensure consistent pay practices, clearer communication around salary setting, and regular review of compensation structures.
  • The ISO 27001 certification process initiatedSolita initiated the ISO 27001 certification process in 2024 and passed the stage 1 audit successfully. External certification audits are expected to be completed by June 30, 2025, after which the company aims to obtain full certification.

The content and structure of the 2024 report have been guided by the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Currently, the CSRD will apply to Solita starting in 2025. However, the timeline may be revised under the European Commission’s proposed Omnibus Directive.
