Meet our People of Solita. We have over 1700 employees in different locations with different skills and backgrounds – each with a story to share about what they do and what inspires them. This is Tatiana, our Data Engineer in Sweden.

I moved to Stockholm from Saint Petersburg, Russia in 2010. With a master’s degree in industrial economics and logistics, I had worked as a business and financial controller, as well as a strategic analyst, for many years. My passion for problem-solving and innate curiosity motivated me to expand my skills by completing a two-year Data Science program. Before joining Solita, I worked as a trainee at a consultancy firm, where I discovered my interest in working as a data consultant.

My first acquaintance with Solita occurred in February 2020 when I participated in the ‘Tableau test drive’ event at Solita’s office. As soon as I stepped into the office, I immediately felt that it was a place where I wanted to work. It wasn’t just the wonderful and cozy office environment, but also the way people interacted with each other – filled with smiles and respect.

My journey at Solita began with the Data Academy. In a very short time, we studied and completed numerous practical exercises and cases using a wide range of tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, DBT, Matilion, Tableau, and more. Alongside that, we learned about Solita’s units, use cases, and culture. Our team comprised individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill sets, and we collaborated seamlessly to achieve our objectives. It was an incredible experience, and of course, we had a lot of fun.

Being a consultant can present its challenges, particularly when working on shorter projects. It involves quickly understanding the business needs and goals, and providing optimal solutions. Moreover, given the range of tools available, one must be prepared to learn and adapt to new tools as required by a specific use case. However, despite these challenges, I find the role of a consultant to be both interesting and rewarding. It offers the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of people, including clients and colleagues. Additionally, being a consultant necessitates continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest trends.

I have recently worked on a project for a client in the manufacturing and service industry. We collected and refined data in Snowflake, built a machine learning model with Python, and created a demo application using Streamlit, which is part of the Snowflake family. It was the first time I utilized Streamlit, and I liked this tool so much that I am currently using it to create an application for my pet project.

Working at Solita provides me with great opportunities to meet and work with amazing and skillful people. I can ask anything, whether it’s related to my professional responsibilities or not. For example, I can seek tips on worth-reading fiction books and receive quick responses on Slack. The office offers a range of benefits, including bi-weekly meditation and yoga sessions, and even massages. These activities help me maintain a positive and healthy mindset, enabling me to work with pleasure and enthusiasm.
