The report provides detailed insights into the company’s approach to sustainability. Solita has grown responsibly already for more than 25 years, committing to its people, customers, environment, and responsible business practices.

“The journey towards sustainability isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s an absolute must – and a lot of hard work. We are committed to creating a positive impact on societies, companies, and our work community, including over 2,000 Solitans and our vast network of partners”, commented Ossi Lindroos, CEO of Solita.

Committing to the ten principles of the UN Global Compact

Solita has been committed to the United Nations Global Compact initiative – the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative – since 2019. The initiative’s Ten Principles relate to human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption goals. In addition to the principles of the UN Global Compact, Solita has also made separate commitments regarding its sustainability focus areas of people, the environment and responsible business. In the report for 2023, activities and progress regarding the different ESG focus areas are described in detail.

Our key sustainability initiatives and achievements in 2023

Some of the company’s key initiatives to drive sustainability in 2023 included:

  • Solita was recognised as the third-best workplace for women by Women in Tech globally for its commitment to gender equality
  • We created Solita DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) commitments to guide our continued work on diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Solita’s gender balance improved to 26/74 (25/75 in 2022). The share of women of new hires was 28%.
  • The scope of Solita’s ISO 14001:2015 certified environmental management system was extended to cover our newest offices and we successfully passed the periodical audit in 2023.
  • To educate our employees, build awareness, and help everyone understand the role of the ICT industry on climate change, we arranged a “Waste No Time – Solita’s environmental month” in January 2023 reaching 700 participants.
  • We further improved and expanded our emissions calculations and calculated group-wide emissions. We took action to reduce emissions and Solita’s emission intensity (tCO2e/employee) reduced slightly from 2022.
  • We published and implemented a Supplier code of conduct to be used when buying e.g. cleaning services.
  • We adopted a new company-wide data protection policy that covers all our activities involving the processing of personal data and provided new data protection guidelines and training to our employees.

As a result, Solita’s Ecovadis score improved from 57/100 to 62/100 placing us among the top 25% of companies assessed by EcoVadis. EcoVadis is a globally recognised assessment platform that rates businesses’ sustainability based on four key categories: environmental impact, labor, and human rights standards, ethics, and procurement practices.
