Solita is participating in the NATO Innovation Range (NIR) event, which brings together Finnish and international defence technology companies in Finland from 1–10 June 2026. The event will test, integrate and evaluate technologies in realistic operational environments.

The event series brings together technology developers, operational actors and NATO-related capability development projects across multiple locations and use scenarios. Testing will be conducted in maritime conditions in Turku, eastern border operational environments in Joensuu, scenarios related to autonomous systems and long-range communications in Oulu, and command and control system integration environments in Riihimäki.

The Ministry of Defence serves as the national responsible authority for the testing events. Authorised by the Ministry of Defence, the Digital Defence Ecosystem (DDE) and DEFINE (Defence Innovation Network Finland) innovation ecosystems are responsible for organising the event series, in collaboration with the Borderland Europe project and Business Joensuu, Business Oulu and Business Turku. Solita is a founding member of the Digital Defence Ecosystem.

“Significant investment and job creation are emerging globally in the defence and security sector in the near future. It’s excellent that Finland, through strong public-private collaboration, has been able to provide such outstanding conditions for NATO’s testing event. Our ecosystem gets to test both the latest technologies and effective collaboration during the event, as well as showcase our expertise to the NATO network,” says Janne Niinivaara from Solita’s Defence & Security.

For Finland, the event represents an important step in building sustained NATO-related innovation and testing activities. For participating companies, it offers an opportunity to validate their technologies in demanding conditions, collaborate with other actors, and demonstrate the operational relevance of their solutions within the NATO framework.

The testing events include Finnish and international companies from NATO countries. Technology areas being tested include command and control systems and integrations, AI and data applications, communications technologies, sensor systems, and counter-drone systems, which play an increasingly central role in developing modern defence capabilities.
