State Security Networks had earlier announced plans to upgrade Krivat – a platform that provides a shared situational picture for authorities – to renew it for today’s operational demands. The organisation has now chosen Solita and Patria as its delivery partners, responsible for the system renewal and ongoing maintenance once the new version is in place. The modernisation is due to be completed by autumn 2026, after which a five-year contract period will begin. Following this, the contract will continue on a rolling basis.
Krivat connects authorities with companies responsible for critical infrastructure, enabling a more comprehensive situational overview and faster response in both large-scale and smaller disruptions. The updated version will also make it easier to introduce new features and develop a mobile version of the service.
“This is a major step forward for the development and future-readiness of the service,” said Markku Järvinen, Chief Operating Officer at State Security Networks. “Krivat plays a central role in Finland’s overall security infrastructure. It enables collaboration between authorities and other security-critical actors, particularly during crises such as storms, power cuts or pandemics. With Krivat, organisations can form a shared picture of the situation, which speeds up response times and helps allocate resources more effectively.”
“By using technology and data more intelligently, and supporting faster and more transparent cooperation between authorities, we’re helping to strengthen Finnish society’s resilience in exceptional circumstances. We are proud to be part of such a meaningful project alongside State Security Networks, the National Emergency Supply Agency and Patria,” said Timo Honko, who leads Solita’s operations in Finland.
Renewal funded by the National Emergency Supply Agency
The Krivat upgrade will be funded by Finland’s National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA). Once the renewal is complete, the National Emergency Supply Agency will take on a key role in guiding the strategic direction and development of the service.
State Security Networks will continue to operate the Krivat service after the renewal, working closely with its selected partners and NESA to ensure continued reliability and effectiveness.
