If you want to understand our culture, spend a day in our Slack. We obviously use it for work, but it’s also a place where you’ll find memes flying, emoji reactions piling up, and our CEO kicking off major company announcements with a picture of a potato. Yeah, you read that right. A potato.
Slack isn’t just another tool here; it’s the tool. It’s how we stay connected across countries, offices, projects, and time zones. But what makes it work is how Solitans use it.
The vibe is casual but caring. People jump in to help, crack jokes, share what they’re learning, and aren’t afraid to speak up. Whether you’re a junior or a senior, everyone can comment, and everyone does. There’s no “wait your turn” or “stay in your lane” energy. If you have something to say, you’re welcome to share it. And if someone goes too far, it is ok to call them out about that.
More than messages
Emojis are a big part of the language. Memes show up in work channels because why shouldn’t they?
And when our CEO, Ossi Lindroos, has big news to share, you might see it introduced with that iconic potato image or with a music playlist. These things remind everyone not to take ourselves too seriously, even when the news is serious.
It’s this mix of professionalism and playfulness that makes Slack feel less like a corporate communication platform and more like Solita. Easy-going but driven. Caring but courageous. Passionate about the work but never forgetting that we’re humans doing it.
Community of over 2,200 experts ready to help you
Our experts are always solving difficult and impactful problems in their daily work. From a customer’s point of view, they might have a few consultants from Solita working directly with them and on top of that, they get the power of over 2,200 Solitans. And our Slack culture is one big reason for this.
When you need to solve a tricky problem, you always have a diverse community of colleagues just one Slack message away. You can throw your question to the Slack channel and get a response within minutes. And usually, you don’t get just one response, but there can be 20 colleagues from different countries discussing the topic with you. Our community has your back and helps you.
Channel for every situation
We have over 2,000 open Slack channels for different purposes and many more private ones. Our four biggest channels are about work:
- #Solita: Channel to share news, insights and other relevant information with the whole company.
- #info-sessions: Info sessions are one of the most important ways for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.
- #it-peer-support: Our community helps each other in different ways, and also with IT problems.
- #generative_ai: AI is a super-hot topic at the moment, so it’s not a surprise this channel is one of the most active ones. People are sharing news, learnings and questions about AI.
As said, Slack is the tool for us to work, but our community also uses it to communicate about various topics in their free time. Do you want to find some gardening tips? There is a channel called #greenthumb. Want to sell old skis or buy a new bike? Then you should go for #buy-sell-change. Or are you passionate about knitting and want to get inspired by what others have knitted? #knitting is a perfect place for you!
So yeah, our Slack is busy. But it’s the good kind of busy, where you stay connected, heard, and maybe laugh out loud at your desk more than you expected to do today.
