For many companies, a journey to cloud starts with a migration project early on. This is seen as a fast and sometimes straightforward project with quick wins. However the reality is not that simple, but by embracing few principles, you are able to make the migration journey smooth and fruitful.
Migration should always be done for a reason, not just for sake of migration. The reasons for the migration should always be carefully considered and supported by a clear business case. Defined business cases give clear technical requirements for the migration. Cloud should be seen as a part of overall enterprise architecture and therefore migration becomes part of the company road map.
