Remote work stories: Caroline Jones

We started our company-wide remote working on Friday 13th of March. A #remotework channel was created on Slack, and since then our community has been sharing tips on staying sane and funny stories from their new remote working life. We asked a few of these people to share their stories and their “new normal”.

This is Caroline’s story:

What is your role? Which team?

I work as a business intelligence developer in the Swedish data team. Currently I work at a customer where I help to develop Tableau reports and transform data in Matillion and Snowflake.

 What’s your biggest passion(s)?

I have a lot of different passions. I love to learn new things and get new experiences which is why I love to be a consultant! I love to get the customer to see things from another angle which they have not seen something before. I also like to educate people and to help others gain new skills.

When I am not working one of my biggest passions is to help animals, so I sometimes volunteer at a cat shelter.

I also love to be creative and to be out in nature and take nature photos. Another creative outlet is to paint miniatures. I am also a gamer and a fan of fantasy so me and my husband sometimes play computer games together or I read fantasy books. And that is when I do not read about skin care.

What’s your most impactful experience at Solita so far?

To share the same passion and experience with others. To be able to learn from others, not only in my field, but cross teams and find new ways of working together.

What brightens your #remotework day?

To be able to not always follow the old standards of having “industrial work time” i.e sit inside an office between 8-17 all day. It is nice to be able to take a break and do something else like taking a walk outside!

I also have two new co-workers at home and they sometimes help me to not get stuck in work all the time.
