Solita’s team has won the Mobile Networks category of the international Ultrahack hackathon. Its team of data scientists and service designers were presented with their prize at the Slush event on 30 November 2016. The main prize was EUR 4,000.
Slush is the largest event for growth companies in Europe. In 2016, it was preceded by the Ultrahack tournament for the second consecutive year. The tournament attracted 560 participants from 29 countries.
Solita’s team consisted of Lasse Tammilehto, Mikko Haikonen and Ville Antila.
“Hackathons are an interesting way to design new services over a short time, combining the skills of experts in various fields. The customer-focused approach was again victorious. We created a simple, yet highly effective solution based on customer needs”, says Lasse Tammilehto, Creative Director at Solita.
The Mobile Networks challenge was sponsored by DNA and Karttakeskus. The sponsors were seeking a new, creative way to describe mobile network coverage. More information about the Mobile Networks challenge at Ultrahack.
The Ultrahack jury consisted of Tiina Rytkönen, Cedric Kamtsan and Tuomo Rikman from DNA and Tero Dubrov from Karttakeskus. In 2016, the participating teams competed in solving more than 20 challenges related to financial technology, the retail sector, the media, mobile networks, mobility, the health sector and public services.
The hackathon concept is an innovation format for finding new solutions to specific challenges over a short time. The concept has gained popularity rapidly. Solita’s teams have competed in several hackathons with great success. Its team won the Ponsse Industryhack and the Mentors’ Choice award at Cargohack.
Solita congratulates the winners!
