The technology, strategy and design company Solita has obtained the AWS Machine Learning Competency status from Amazon Web Services (AWS) for pioneering machine learning solutions and expertise. Solita was the first Finnish company to receive this status. AWS technologies play a key role now that people are starting to use artificial intelligence (AI) all over the world.
Solita has long experience in AWS solutions, and the company offers extensive AWS services to its customers in the private and public sectors. Solita is an Advanced Consulting Partner of the AWS Partner Network (APN), and it has already obtained the following status: AWS Managed Service Provider, Channel Reseller Partner, Authorized Public Sector Partner and AWS Big Data Competency.
“It’s great that we are the first in Finland to be recognised by AWS for our expertise in machine learning. The continuous development of our skills is characteristic of Solita’s culture. We want to be the leading Nordic company in AI and machine learning solutions. Machine learning is becoming more and more important in many sectors. Today, it can already be used to enhance the treatment of some diseases, improve everyday customer experiences and increase delivery reliability in the industry sector. We are already now using artificial intelligence and machine learning in our daily lives. They will change the world greatly, as did industrialisation and automation in the past”, says Jani Turunen, the head of AI at Solita.
“The union between people and machines is becoming tighter, and we want to contribute to keeping Finland and other Nordic countries competitive as they enter the era of AI and its international markets. At the moment, big investments are being made in AI in Finland. Both the private and the public sector will be investing even hundreds of millions of euros in AI in the coming years. For instance, the investments in Finland’s Aurora project amount to nearly EUR 50 million. A lot of expertise is also required to realise these plans. We want to be at the forefront developing AI expertise. AWS offers excellent solutions and tools to help us do it”, says Pekka Ahola, Senior Vice President, Data and Cloud, Solita.
Solita has invested in AWS significantly for years, and there are, for example, 60 associate and 10 pro certificated experts working for Solita. The company will continue to recruit a considerable number of AI and machine learning experts during the course of autumn in Finland, Sweden and Estonia.

AWS services are used by more than one million active customers around the world. Solita’s customers include several pioneering companies, such as DNA and Assa Abloy, which use AWS technologies.
