WHITE ARKITEKTER (SWE),
Krister Lindstedt & Viktoria Walldin:
HOW TO MOVE A CITY
– Social and Urban Transformations in Kiruna
The final AXP* event of spring 2018 zooms in to one of the most ambitious design task one can imagine: how to move an existing city?
This question is based on a real life problem faced by the city of Kiruna in Sweden. The city is sinking as the iron mines beneath it are making the ground collapse. Over the next decades, its 20,000+ residents will have to be relocated, along with their homes, offices, stores, and schools, to a brand-new city few kilometers to the east.
An internationally recognized Swedish architecture and design office, White Arkitekter AB has been solving the social and urban challenges raised by this unbelievable task.
We at Palmu are more than excited to invite Krister Lindstedt, the leading architect of the project and Viktoria Walldin, White’s social anthropologist to share their future vision for city of Kiruna.
