Meet our People of Solita. We have over 1000 employees in different locations with different skills and backgrounds – each with a story to share of their own and their own perspective of working at Solita.
This is Valtteri. Dev Team People Lead, Father, Family leave mentor and Coach.
What’s your biggest passion(s)?
My biggest passion is Solitans’ wellbeing and satisfaction, as well as their sense of purpose at work. The most important thing to me in life is my family, wife and two sons.
What are you working on? Which team? What do you love about your job?
For me family friendliness at Solita is crucial. Among others, I’m one of the family leave mentors and I’ve been training our supervisors in family leave situations to make Solita even more family friendly. I could not work in a company that isn’t a family friendly workplace. For me it’s crucial I’m easily able to bind together my work life and my family life.
I want to especially encourage men to take their part of family leaves, not only paternity leaves [isyysvapaa] but also parental leave [hoitovapaa]. Have you ever heard an old man looking back over the years and being sad about working too little? Me neither.
What drives you? What makes your day?
The best part of my job is interacting with my colleagues and team members. For me people’s wellbeing and that they feel comfortable to be themselves at work is at the core and aim of my job. For example, I really enjoy having coaching session with my team members and taking actions that lead to a better workplace. I also run self leadership coaching sessions to help Solitans succeed in their own (work) life.
Where do you feel you can have the most impact?
I see the most impact both at the macro and micro levels. On the macro level I’m proud of changing our policy so that Solitans can use working hours to visit parental clinic during pregnancy, this applies to both men and women. At the micro level, it feels great to see one individual Solitan getting some valuable new idea or viewpoint with my coaching.
What has been the most interesting/exciting challenge at Solita that helped you grow?
I jumped into my first self leadership coaching with only 1,5 hour pre-warning before starting it because a colleague got sick. I think it was awesome that I gathered my courage to say “Yes” and we had a good coaching! 🙂
What’s your favourite part about your job?
Coaching self leadership has been both one of the most exciting challenge and one of my favourite parts of my job.
