This is Thomas, our Integration Specialist, cyclist and a wannabe baker.
I enjoy the collaboration in each project
I joined the company three years ago when it was still Ferrologic. I learned about them at the University, they hosted a guest lecture about integration, and I got interested. I went to talk to them and ended up joining the company.
I’m part of the integration team, where we develop solutions to make different technological systems to communicate with each other. I’m working with the data, and I manage the information flow. For example, I have to make sure that the data goes to the right location, and the languages in the different tech systems are communicating.
I enjoy the collaboration with other team members in each project. Working together and helping others to be successful is rewarding. The work is about understanding the business needs and providing the best solutions to meet them. In the team, we have different know-how, and we can reach the best results together.
I’m currently working in a big client project for a Finnish client. It has been nice to collaborate with my new co-workers from Finland and learn about the working culture.
Finnish work culture feels humane and easy-going. Based on my experience so far, the attitude towards remote work seems to be open and positive in Finland. They actually trust that you do your job!
Easy going and passionate culture works for me
I feel like the culture at Solita is a good match with the Ferrologic culture. People are easy-going and open. Even though we are over 1000 employees here, it feels smaller. You can talk to anyone, and there is always help available. It’s even easy to reach out to co-workers from other countries.
I’ve also noticed that there is a similar will of knowledge sharing; the company highly supports learning and development. With Solita, there are more learning opportunities as it’s a big company. It provides a wide variety of services, and there is deep expertise in different technologies. I’ve already learned one new technology, and I can’t wait to learn more.
Maybe in the future, I could be more in a generalist role. Having a wide understanding of different technologies would be beneficial in sales. The idea of participating in the sales process is appealing; I’d like to talk to clients and figure out how we could help them.
I have a deep interest in exploring new technologies and stay ahead of the game. I’m delighted to see that also Solita has a culture where side projects are encouraged. I’ve noticed that a lot is going on in the company; projects outside of client work, and groups gathering together around common interests. It’s a great way to foster team spirit and innovation.
To be successful at Solita, I think that people need to be passionate and truly interested in what they do. When people are curious and excited, I believe that good results will follow.
Thomas Marcelis is an Integration Specialist who works at Solita’s Belgian Community. The Community joined Solita’s workforce in November 2019 when Solita and Ferrologic formed a North European leader in data-driven digital transformation.
