Solita joins Hansel’s framework agreement for technical IT consultancy

Hansel, the central procurement unit of the Finnish Government, has incorporated a new sector for turnkey projects in its reformed framework agreement for technical IT-consultancy services. The new sector will ease and expedite the tendering process for IT projects. The framework agreement for this sector came into force on 1 March, for a period of four years.

“The turnkey-project sector is suited to the tendering processes of a broad range of projects as a whole, instead of a customer having to invite tenders for each project phase individually. The project does not need to be large in order to benefit from a turnkey implementation. A turnkey delivery can be used in specification projects, for example, in which functional prototypes are also produced. On these grounds already, it is possible to use a turnkey delivery,” says Director Timo Honko from Solita.

The sector for turnkey projects can be used by the state’s various organisations when a project requires experts in at least two of the following task areas: project management services; specification and architectural services; application development services; and database and integration services.

“Solita has years of experience in large-scale public-administration solutions. In addition to the overall responsibility of projects, we have carried out user-experience design and feasibility studies, for example. Our customer references include the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the Finnish Transport Agency, the National Land Survey of Finland, Tekes [the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation], and Finland’s Ministry of the Environment,” Honko continues.
Solita enjoys a second consecutive year of strong growth - Turnover and profit clearly grew faster than the IT market

Solita grew faster than the IT market in all three of Solita’s business areas: eBusiness, Business Intelligence, and software solutions.

“We have in recent years systematically developed Solita’s competitiveness, and I am extremely pleased that the results can be seen so concretely,” said Solita’s CEO, Jari Niska. “Last year was Solita’s fifteenth year of operation, and in this time we have achieved a solid position as a specialist in eBusiness solutions for both the private and public sectors. We challenge ourselves every day to become an even better partner for our customers.

According to Niska, the cornerstones of growth are customer-oriented operation and, above all, motivated and satisfied personnel. Solita again improved its rankings in Finland’s Great Place to Work survey with a position of thirteenth this year. At the end of 2011, there were 192 people working at Solita.

“We have a great crew here. We are committed to building Solita into a great workplace with a set of values that are easy to adhere to. I believe that our employees’ enthusiasm and wellbeing are directly reflected in working with our customers. For Solita, recent years have been a time of change and development. We are moving more and more away from project business towards service business, and the prerequisite for success is the understanding of our customers’ businesses and their generation of genuine added value. In this respect, close interaction with our customers, and our skilled personnel, play a key role. Our internal, strategic theme for this year is: Towards an agile organisation. This is demonstrated, for example, by our participation in the Redesigning 925 project which develops new forms of information work,” Niska continues.

Solita expects growth to continue during the financial year 2012.
